What does the free tier include, exactly?
Without an account: 3 files a day per visitor, up to 30 minutes and 100 MB each, with full TXT/SRT/VTT exports, no watermark and no email gate. A free account raises that to 5 files a day at up to 1 hour and 500 MB each, saves your transcripts in a library, and unlocks DOCX/PDF exports.
How do credits work?
1 credit = 1 minute of audio, rounded up per file — a 47-minute recording costs 47 credits. Credits are only deducted when transcription actually starts; failed jobs are never charged. Packs never expire: $5 → 600 minutes (10 h), $15 → 2,400 minutes (40 h), $39 → 9,000 minutes (150 h). That's as low as $0.0043/minute — Rev charges $0.25/minute for the same AI transcription.
What does "fair-use unlimited" mean on Pro?
Transcribe as much as you normally need — we don't meter Pro usage per file. The soft cap is 100 hours per month, which no individual user hits in normal use; it exists to stop resellers running bulk pipelines through a $10 account. If you genuinely need more than 100 h/month, contact us.
Pro Monthly vs Pro Annual vs a pack — which should I pick?
Regular transcribing (weekly meetings, a podcast): Pro Annual at $60/year is the best value — half of TurboScribe's annual price. Occasional bursts (one interview project, a semester of lectures): a pack, since it never expires. One month of heavy use: Pro Monthly at $10 and cancel after.
Can I cancel or get a refund?
Cancel Pro anytime from your account page — you keep access until the end of the period you paid for, and nothing renews after. Packs are one-time purchases. If something went wrong with a charge, our refund policy covers you for 30 days.
Do you offer a developer API?
Not here — transcribe.free is deliberately a web tool. For a production speech-to-text API (same Whisper-class engines, plus diarization and 90+ languages), use our sister service stt.ai.
